USED 1971 / 1972 Gibson SG Custom

Our Price:
$3,200.00

All original, one owner. The guitar was made sometime from late 1971 to early 1972 which is the only time period Gibson placed the control panel on the front. Due to the limited production of this particular guitar they are very rare and difficult to find so should only increase in value. The guitar has no structural defects but it does show wear from playing like a vintage guitar should. Some small dings and scratches and the gold finish has been mostly played off but still a beautiful guitar. Neck is true with no cracks but does show a little fret wear on the second and third frets but still very playable. Back of body does have what we call marring but finish is not broken.

The SG Custom's in this era are prized for their unique tapered neck and low profile frets. These necks were known as the "Les Paul Fretless Wonder" and were only put on the Custom SG and Custom Les Paul models of that time.

Gibson advertisement for this guitar at the time was as follows:

The SG Custom with three powerful, humbucking pickups portrays a picture of tonal eloquence. The unique tonal capabilities permit the player to obtain the contemporary sounds of today with simplicity.
